In addition to the development and management of his companies, one of Don’s most effective skills is developing strong, strategic partnerships with a wide range of U.S. and international companies. A few of these partners–Siemens (U.S. and Germany), Level3, Cisco, Polycom, YMCA, Phybridge, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Hartsfield-Jackson Int’l Airport, Hilton Hotels. Choice Hotels, Bloomberg News, CBS News, Six Flags, Marcus Theaters, Einstein Bagels, Sears (Brand Central), Que Publishing, W.K. Kellogg Foundation (27-North, and South American Universities: including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, ASU, Penn St., Georgetown, Northwestern, University of Mexico, Universidad de Buenos Aires), and many technology and custom web-based, database-driven software projects for Sodexho, one of the world’s largest international companies with 420,000 employees in 80 countries.
Don’s technology consultancy recently participated in the information governance (IG) and document management project for a large conglomerate. The project scanned over 200M files, identified (ROT and personal/sensitive information), evaluated file/data security and compliance, integrated data from multiple acquisitions into a single enterprise, created new file taxonomies, and migrated files from server-based, file/directory structures into Microsoft SharePoint data repositories.
Don is married with kids and several grandkids, attended the University of Kansas and enjoys spending time immersed as deeply as possible in nature—the wilder and more remote, the better. Growing up both in a family restaurant and spending summers on the ranch in KS and OK, he is an accomplished chef and has raised beef cattle, hunting dogs, and AQHA show/cow horses. His hobbies are building something from nothing, bird hunting with dogs he has trained, and fishing on a secluded pond or stream.
